ITV to move all London staff to White City in cost-cutting plan
ITV today said it will move all its London staff to one headquarters at the BBC’s former White City campus as part of plans to slash costs.
The broadcaster currently has three locations in the capital, with staff split between offices in Holborn, Gray’s Inn Road and Westworks in White City.
But around 2,000 employees will be moved into Broadcast Centre in White City, where ITV is taking 120,000 square feet of office space.
The move will begin in early 2022 and will be completed within a year. ITV has signed a 13-year lease with the BBC.
The relocation will bring all staff close to where the London-listed company creates and broadcasts many of its biggest shows, including Good Morning Britain, Saturday Night Takeaway and the Jonathan Ross Show.
It also marks efforts by ITV to adapt to home working and cut costs as it overhauls its business model for the streaming age.
The public service broadcaster last year set up a dedicated on-demand unit focused on ITV Hub and Britbox, its joint streaming service with the BBC.
The revamp will also lead to a slimming down of the company’s workforce, though ITV has declined to comment on how many jobs will be cut.
“Our people have made it really clear to us that they want to build on the positive aspects of their experience over the last 18 months to have a more balanced approach to office based and remote working,” said chief executive Carolyn McCall.
“Our new office will bring everyone from ITV in London together and will provide the size and flexibility to enable everyone to perform their roles, help ITV deliver on our strategy as well as get the balance they want in their lives.”
